For all of you who are looking to buy the last of my porcelain buttons,
I will be at the upcoming Houston Quilt Festival :
International Quilt Festival 2007
George Brown Convention Center
October 31-Nov. 4
Booth #'s 751 &753
Special closeout pricing will be in effect. I have many beautiful
buttons set aside for this event. For those of you who
have been emailing me requesting orders at this time, I regret
I cannot fill orders as all the buttons have been packed for transport
to the show. In addition, the complete range
of my new shibori work will be available .
I will also be
introducing a line of fine arts and crafts films from Studio
Galli Films. I will have the first copies of the new film Arimatsu
Narumi Shibori by Studio Galli for sale. This DVD,
filmed in the towns of Arimatsu and Narumi, Japan is translated
and narated by Yoshiko Wada, herself an international expert
on the art of shibori, and offers never seen before footage
of this Japanese traditional craft.
I will also be giving a Make & Take workshop on handmade ribbon
flower making using my shibori silk ribbon.
Time is 3-4 PM, Sunday Nov. 4. See workshop schedule at the show
or in your catalog for sign up info. If you miss the workshop,
you can also find a workshop on the same topic at Joggles.com.
So, in conclusion, I look forward to seeing lots of old friends
and customers in Houston and celebrating the great creative energy
that is always present at Houston Quilt Festival. See you there!

I decided I needed to give all of you an update on the progress
of Shiborigirl
Studios and the remaining button stock. I am officially
NOT MAKING any new buttons. I do, however, have an inventory
of many designs remaining. If you are interested in purchasing
any, send me an email with your needs and we'll see what I can
ship to you. Many customers have been happy receiving mixed assortments.
If I get in the mood to paint porcelain again, I'll let you know!
For now however, I am really enjoying the creation process involved
in my new line of shibori silk textiles. As many of you know, putting
together a new business involves alot of organization and energy
and in between all the design and creation work, I have been attending
to those details. I will be exhibiting my new work for the first
time at the upcoming ACRE show in Las Vegas. This is a juried show
of fine crafts handmade in the US and Canada. Having been in the
gift and quilt markets for the past 27 years, this fine craft market
offers new opportunities for me and a whole new market to explore.
I have also been accepted into the Houston Quilt Festival in November
where I will preview a selection of art textiles for quilters and
fiber artists.
So in the meantime, check out the Shiborigirl
blog !
Kind regards,
Glennis

I want to thank all of you who have been my customers over the
past 25 years which has allowed me to pursue what I love to do
and support my two sons (now 16 & 17!) in the process. I have
always believed that as an artist/entrepreneur I need to reinvent
myself every 5-10 years to reflect the changes in the market, my
personal lifestyle, and the world at large.
That time is here again. While I will still be making porcelain
buttons on a limited basis, I will also be devoting myself to another
art form that has fascinated me for some time. A recent trip
to Japan this past summer rekindled an interest in shibori
and I invite you to visit my
blog and follow the progress. Please
feel free to comment, ask questions, or just lurk anonymously!
For those of you who don't know, I have also been involved in
another project this past year and a half- managing
and designing for Cook's
Collection Mannequins. If you have seen
us at the trade shows, you know how beautiful and whimsical these
mannequins are. You can purchase the mannequins both wholesale
and retail through the web site.
So, thank you again, enjoy the links, and email me
when it's time to re-order buttons!
Kind Regards,
Glennis
